    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Thoroughly enjoy my different roles within my placement. Worked and liaised with different executives from diverse companies, being able to get involved in a number of rewarding and insightful initiatives that equipped me in different both transferable and industry related skills.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Did not always inform colleagues of my intern position but even when doing so I was treated and value very much by the quality of deliverable and support that I provided. Liaised and directly worked with individuals of different seniorities that valued me not based on my intern position but to what extend I could support them.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • All managers were open and honest; some more eager to support than others but all willing to provide feedback and guidance. Nonetheless I worked with different senior managers and through different networking, celebratory events and occasional conversations I was informally given support and guidance by different individuals within the company.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Sought to make the most of my experience and get involved in both internal and client initiatives; long hours (10+) therefore were part of my days as a result. However if one has to leave earlier, work from a different office or from home there is that flexibility, provided that you are responsible and have shown that you are able to manage your time well and do the work that is required of you.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Produced deliverable that were directly presented to the client and allowed the firm to get the work order payment. Within small teams I was able to support managers by leading a number of engagements. There is also the possibility to not only get involved in initiatives outside of your client project but also to initiate one, provided you have some support from senior individuals.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There is a wealth of educational and insightful online content. Internal and external training providers also facilitated both online and in person workshops that equipped me with the required skills to succeed in my role. The experience in diverse industries, with individuals of different seniority in itself was eye-opening and allowed me to obtain insights and essential transferable skills that have and will continue to assist me as I develop a career in professional services.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Was client based in all my projects and the atmosphere depended on this factor and the type of individuals I worked with. Nonetheless doing work in front of a computer, with online and face to face meeting, is what a general day consisted. Individuals are approachable and at both Accenture and client’s office there are regular networking events.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Mobility was embedded in my scheme and appreciated the flexibility that I was given to navigate through the company and apply for different positions. Support and events were arranged. The experience depended very much on the initiative of the particular individual in seeking new roles and challenges; support in how to go about this journey however was available.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

If within a certain practice certain courses are accommodated for. Induction training, industry and specific skills-set related workshops and employee training sessions were also available for employees.

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very appealing and want to continue to work within the firm both whilst and after my studies. A consultant environment where one is able to support client from different industries or specialise in a certain area is both insightful, challenging and rewarding. In this process, I found that one needs to be able to quickly adapt to the different environments and during these process I have develop a number of capabilities.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Managers offered to host dinners. Client account leads organised different celebratory events for the employees. Scheme organisers did also arranged for interns drinks at different venues. Offices also accommodate drinks and weekly events. There was a good social scene between interns and there was a few events organised by the students as well.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Based in different parts of London during my projects. London accommodation is expensive in comparison to other parts of the country; social events, organised by managers, scheme organisers or the senior within your practice or the account are often paid for. In out of London projects, transport, accommodation and the majority of socialising events are often paid for.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There are plenty of venues available on London.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There was, during the induction you are introduced to certain practices and guided to the intranet resources that enable you to get involved in a number of activities; religious and sports related groups are examples of some opportunities. Once in a client there are possibilities for you to organise and get involved in social events. Practices also provide you different learning possibilities.
