About You
A great opportunity to get a great insight into how Accenture operate day-to-day, as well as a welcome break from teaching! A little surprised by the location but a good experience.
I was given valuable tasks with purpose and was able to assist with larger, more client-facing tasks too!
I was well supported by all - graduate admin, placement colleagues and everyone else I had to speak to to complete my tasks. Very helpful and lots of advice.
Great tips for computer software, good understanding of business and a fantastic insight into a future career.
The Company
The information provided was communicated a little later than I expected, but everything was provided in time to get places!
A little stressful as there were deadlines to meet, however everyone was happy to help me gain an honest experience of their job and tasks.
As I was only there for a few weeks, time was very limited - I received some excellent training with Excel and a half day of training related to the structure of the business which was adequate for the placement that I was working on.
I had a full experience of the job as I was fully immersed in the environment and helped to fill in the gap left by an employee on annual leave during my presence.
I was invited to social events run by the graduate team as well as by 'normal' colleagues. I was also included in meetings and team progress reports from the first day!
I was offered a position after completing the placement! So it was very helpful!! I look forward to getting a longer timeframe to experience the company when I am in my initial training.
Everything Else
I was paid as if I were an Analyst, pro rata for the time that I was present with the company, as well reimbursing my expenses for travel and food. I could also have stayed closer to my placement overnight during the week at the expense of the company but I preferred to stay in my prearranged accommodation.
I was working in the main office area and invited to lunch and dinner (and social events) by the team that I was working with. There was also an organised event at the end of my placement where I was able to meet other current employees working in different sectors who had followed the same career path that I was starting on.
The social events were many, but not especially varied as they were mostly drinks or dinner and drinks. I would have enjoyed a little more time to socialise during the day or with a focus on physical activity, although the time frame was a limiting factor.
There was a presentation devoted solely to this during our training with the company - employees that ran or were members of particular societies were invited along also, so we had the opportunity to speak to them about this also.
Definitely worth the time invested, it was an in-depth and (as far as I am aware) honest experience where we were immersed in the real workplace without the supervision of the graduate team. The salary and reimbursed expenses were a welcome bonus!
