The Role
It was a really great experience. I got involved in so many different aspects of the business and was able to gain and improve several different skills.
As it is a smaller company, I, at the very least, knew of everyone and talked to most on a daily basis, everyone definitely helped each other where they could.
I was provided with lots of support and help whenever I needed.
The nature of my job role meant that some days could be extremely busy and others less so, part of my job was about being able to adapt to demands.
I was given lots of responsibility and was in charge of many of my own projects. Part of what I was doing involved recruiting for other roles in the business.
I have so many new and honed skills that i can attribute to my time at Benefex, the variety of the work I was doing has given me so much more to use in my final year of my degree and going forward beyond that.
The Company
We were extremely busy at certain times in the year, due to the nature of the work with different clients, and sometimes it could get quite stressful and tensions ran a bit high as everyone was trying to do their best without always getting the assistance needed.
In terms of a structured programme, I didn't have one. I very much pick up things on an as needed basis, which suits my style of work, the business are looking to set up a more structured role going forward.
I received lots of training on many different things throughout the business, from my induction training upon arrival to client relationship management training.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Healthcare from home
As it is a smaller business there are not as many avenues to go down, but if you are good at your job and dedicated you will be rewarded.
The Culture
There were lots of events throughout the year, including the Christmas party, pub quizzes, dress up for Halloween and so on.
Cost of living is reasonable as there are 2 universities in southampton so lots of student accomodation to choose from, and being in the centre you are very close to all the restaurants, bars, clubs etc for socialising.
Again as there are two uni's in Southampton there is lots of options for nightlife.
There were often after work drinks or things like pub quizzes.
