    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my internship at Language Connect because I have learnt a lot and my colleagues and mentor were very nice. The job was sometimes very busy, but precisely because I had many responsibilities, I have become more autonomous and independent at work. Moreover, it was a good opportunity to improve my English and to get to know a work environment in the United Kingdom.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues who were always stressing the fact that I was a talented person and I was doing a great job. Moreover, they were supportive and ready to help, so I knew that I could count on them. They were also willing to prepare reference letters for my future employers.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My supervisors explained everything to me about the company and the workflow and they were always available and willing to help. They were aware of the fact that my position was quite busy and they offered their support whenever they could. They were very patient and willing to answer my questions.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was very busy on a daily basis and there were very few quiet days. I had a lot of responsibilities and talking on the phone in English was a real challenge for me. But it was also a great opportunity to acquire new skills, such as meeting deadlines, problem-solving and coping with stress.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given great responsibility and I had to manage a project on my own, so it was much more than an internship to me! This was an excellent opportunity of professional development. Anyway, in case of problems or doubts I could always count on my supervisor and colleagues for help and advice.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I've just finished my internship but I'm sure that it will help me a lot in my future career because I have gained skills that are extremely useful for any kind of job (time management, ability to work under pressure, multitasking skills, linguistic skills, ability to cope with stress and to meet deadlines).

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere in my office was really good, my colleagues were kind and available to help. I particularly enjoyed spending time with the other interns, who were all very nice and supportive. I also really liked my team because it was like a family for me, we worked hard but at the same time we laughed a lot and had a very good time.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything was well organised and set up, I had to fill in documents before the start and after the end of my internship and the colleagues responsible of the human resources made sure that I knew the fire procedures, the names and the roles of the people working in the office and in general the workflow and the possibilities of career within the company.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The employment prospects within the organisation are very appealing because it is a very fast-growing company based in a wonderful location. People working there are often valued by their supervisors and there are many opportunities to show one's talent. Moreover, there is a nice work environment and a lot of possibilities for professional development.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The area in which I worked was amazing, with a great variety of restaurants and coffee shops. It is in general a quite expensive area, but you can also find some cheap coffee shops and supermarkets. Moreover, it is an extremely lively area with lots of offices, hotels, gyms and with the breath-taking view of the Tower Bridge.

    4/5
