    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I felt the internship was a perfect fit. I was able to build my professional experience, my technical and project management skills, and build my professional network. I felt challenged and I learned a lot about life in the enterprise world.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very supported by my colleagues. I felt that I was making a real contribution to them and I was able to collaborate with them as equals.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I felt very supported. All of the requests I made and resources I needed to do my job were provided without question. When asked for advice, my manager and mentor would put time aside to discuss with me and provide very sound suggestions.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I felt that I had a perfect balance. The project kept me busy but I still had time to complete some web courses on VZLearn portal and not feel overwhelmed by the work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given almost full autonomy. I managed the project I was assigned to from start to end and was given full creative decision making power.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills attained during my internship will stay with me for life. I learned a lot about the project management process and it is the profession I hope to work my way up to . All of the technical skills I have attained will help me further my career. The internship has helped me choose the direction of my career and has provided the skills and confidence for me to achieve all of the expectations I have for my career.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was relaxed but not without its enterprise feel. My colleagues kept conversation up and provided a very friendly and open environment

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • All of the materials that were required for me to start my internship were ready prior to my arrival on the first day. Some security credentials took a bit long but that is to be expected in a large corporation. There was a bit of a disconnect when trying to request the resources I needed for my project, but this was inherited from the internal processes and authorization steps involved in the enterprise environment. This delay was never the cause of a colleague or manager not knowing or failing to help.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company provided a long list of free training that was offered on its internal learning portal. Some training required additional cost and I was not able to attend certain training sessions. However, the total amount of training I could attend was about 90% of the overall training offered by the enterprise.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes. The other interns were always encouraged to meet and work together. On several occasions, we would go out after work and have all become good friends.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

  • The nightlife is amazing in Paris.

    5/5
