    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Not at all what I expected and a job role far more suited to someone with a technical background. Having said that, I have learnt a lot

  • Part of the team from day one and not only doing the stuff other people don't want to do!

  • Although they're very busy, if I ever had a question I could email or arrange a meeting very easily

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • A lot of system outtages means work couldn't be done which had to be made up for to meet target by doing extremely long hours

  • Given that I was an intern, I felt I was given responsibilty and was never felt to be 'lower' than anyone else

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Irreleavant to my degree, but learnt transferable skills which can be taken to other jobs, especially the need to pick things up very quickly.

  • It has its highs and lows, but the lows can be very low especially when the work is halted

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised - very clear they have done this before and are ready for interns. I never had to chase my manager up with intern-related things (They were always already aware)

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • We had excel training and other general training, but the real training and development will come once you get a full time grad job.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Very good place to work with a great atmosphere and great people. Only downside is, you can be alligned to something you don't want to do

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • When we went out it was very good, but because of the long hours, this isn't always possible

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Pretty much everything was reimbursed!

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Because I was based in Horsham at RSA's office, I was in Horsham from Mon-Fri and Horsham has no nightlife!

  • Weekly sports events and various dinners and pub trips
