The Role
I very much enjoyed my placement year.
I valued them and we went for meals and evenings out. I am just not a very sociable person and therefore perhaps did not get to know them as well as I could have.
Some guidance. I tended to ask if I had a problem, rather than them guide me.
Some days were extremely busy and other were not busy enough at all. very varied.
I was given a huge responsibility. I was in charge of the laboratory and all tests for a clinical trial, unsupervised.
The developed skills will definitely help me get a PhD and future job. they already got me a summer job in a laboratory.
The Company
Sometimes fun and relaxed, people eating cakes and chatting. Sometimes extremely stressed (I walked in on a few people crying in the bathroom over their experiments).
It wasn't particularly organised, but there was not much that could be done about it.
They definitely trained me up well but perhaps did not invest too much into my development. Again, there wasn't really opportunity to do so though.
Above 25 days holiday
Somewhat appealing. I wouldn't mind working there again, however I would prefer to look around some more.
The Culture
Not really. A few meals. Coffee break every day.
I lived with my parents. Socialising was cheap enough, canteen was reasonable.
Nightlife is fine but I didn't go there with work.
No.
