    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Although some of the work became tedious, the majority was fascinating. And it was all made easier by the staff in the office who were incredibly kind, patient and friendly.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I fulfilled some valuable work for the central investment team which was appreciated.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Everyone in the office were accommodating and very willing to sit down with me and talk about their daily responsibilities. I was able to gain a lot of knowledge from having these one-to-one conversations

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • LOTS of work. I worked longer hours than a lot of the office, however I didn't have to at all. I did it because I enjoyed it!

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My work was clearly important for the team and I had full access to approach my work in any way that I felt necessary. However it was constantly checked by the investment professionals, to ensure that I was doing the work correctly.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Not relevant to my degree, but hugely influential to my thinking about my career aspirations. I received incredible insights into the industry as a whole and also thoughtful advice.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Happy and friendly, however the company was going through some large changes, and accompanied by staff absences and a volatile stock market meant that many people were quite stressed.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Excellently done. I had good exposure to all of the fundamental departments within the small wealth management firm which is essential for the development of my career aspirations.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Although they have not given me anything physical in terms of training or development, the experience has proved priceless for my personal development.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Offered a job, unsure whether to accept. Other industry rivals offer "better" graduate schemes (according to many people in the office).

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A few socials and welcome/goodbye parties.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London is expensive! Beware!!

    1/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good but very expensive again.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I lived with some university friends which is an excellent idea if possible.

    4/5
