The Role
I have really enjoyed my placement year, ASOS is absolutely brilliant and I have grown a passion and loyalty to the company, however, I don't think that Merchandising will be the career path for me. I've learnt a huge amount and wouldn't trade in the experience at all, I've grown as a person and my knowledge has expanded leaps and bounds in retail
I felt valued in the sense that I was doing the same job as everyone else so I was treated very equally.
My second manager was fantastic. She has been extremely supportive and very interested in my studies and progression with the company. I think she's a great manager in terms of her work ethic and people skills. However, my first manager paid very little attention and didn't have a catch up with me until I was 2 months into the company with little guidance. I felt very relieved to be moved onto another manager who is so passionate about her job and team. Current manager would be 10 out of 10 but overall in my year experience it has been brought down from my first department. There was also very little programme training when I first joined which was a slight let down but they now run these for all new starters which is great.
It took a few months for me to feel busy as it was a long learning process. I am now extremely busy and my days fly by!
I was given a perfect amount of responsibility as I was treated exactly like others employed by ASOS and I carried out the same tasks and took control of many reports for our team and all intake targets.
The skills I have learnt have given me a fantastic understanding of how an online retailer is run which will set me straight for going onto my career. I can now think very logically in terms of business and sales importance and have hugely improved my computer skills.
The Company
The atmosphere is friendly and exciting in the office. Everyone is extremely busy but the stress level is minimal which shows that employees are amazing at time management with positive attitudes. Emoloyees seem very valued by the company which is a lovely thing to experience every day.
My internship runs seperately from all of the other interns as I start in January rather than August, which I found beneficial as I was treated completely like a new staff member. However, I received very little training in my first few months and had a lot to learn on my own from picking up from other MA's. The company have now reviewed this and hold a range of training sessions during new starters first week which I feel like I would have really benefitted from. It took a few months to begin to get the hang of my job requirement. The company are very understanding that as an intern we also have university work to carry out, and my manager was a huge help with this and extremely encouraging.
As I've mentioned previously in comments, there was very little initial training or outline of what was expected of me in my new role. Since then I have been on many training courses which were all run very smoothly and I thoroughly enjoyed. From new programme training to social skills, ASOS have a wide range of courses which you can book yourself onto and they are really beneficial. ASOS invest a lot into their staff to ensure they are ready to tackle any situation in the office. They also hold talks with social media groups which is catching the personal attention of employees too, I think this is brilliant for keeping the morale high in employees. I thoroughly enjoyed attending these sessions on Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

Extremely appealing. I've grown very passionate for the company and I would strive to return after my course at University. The potential for career growth is huge and the company evidently value their staff which I think is really important. The atmosphere in the company is full of energy which is so inspiring to work around.
The Culture
ASOS value their employees and so they love to throw parties and event for their staff. I had a great time at each seasonal event, and the social commitee work hard to get people together regularly. I also took part in the Nike 10K with 50 other girls in the company which I found socially and personally rewarding. My team would also socialise outside of the office which really grew us as a team.
Camden is well priced in terms out eating out and drinking, so I think that this is ideal for the social side of the office. Living costs are high but they are in most areas in zone 1-2 in London. It's all relative.
Camden is full of bars and music venues which all have a different vibe, this is really good to work near!
Very much so, ASOS hold a variety of fitness classes and events. I took part in the Nike 10k Women's run which I thoroughly enjoyed. All of our training was included during and after work hours and I met a lot of staff through this.
