    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?

    • There is a lot of data analysis, and at times you definitely feel like an excel-monkey, but the work was sufficiently varied that this was not really a problem.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?

    • The people I was immediately working with made an effort to recognise my contribution. There were social events at which my colleaugues went out of their way to make me feel welcome.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?

    • I didn't need much support from management in my role, I was directly reporting to another analyst and was provided lots of support through him.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?

    • Within my role there was an opportunity to steer my workload towards what I was interested in. If I had any spare time (unusual!), there were interesting things to get stuck into.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?

    • The speed at which I was given responsibility really suited my needs. It was manageable but challenging

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?

    • You learn to know microsoft excel like the back of your hand! But more importantly, you get an insight into the corporate world. I learnt a lot about how to effectively communicate, both with peers and with management.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?

    • The office was aesthetically very pleasing, and the people very nice.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?

    • We were provided with accomodation, and there was an induction week and fortnightly meetings for interns. The only slight negative was that some people were not assigned projects and so had nothing to do for the first week or so.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?

    • The induction week was useful, and we were given training in microsoft excel.

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?

    • I came away with a positive impression. Any doubts are due to a change in career aspirations rather than a problem with Accenture.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?

    • All summer interns live together in student halls, so it is quite sociable. There is always something on in London and the location was excellent.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?

    • London is very expensive... The closest supermarkets were M&S and Waitrose. Going out is expensive, but lots of bars had good happy hours after work.

    • Loads to do, especially if you're not used to big cities.

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?

    • Lots is on offer, but I was only there for 8 weeks so didn't get involved.
