    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Going to client meetings and to Lloyds was especially interesting

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • People gave good feedback for the work I did. When particular policies were coming up for renewal, it definitely felt like I was an integral cog in the Aon machine.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was very good at explaining any task he gave me. It meant I understood the wider issues and why I was doing the task in the first place.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Early morning (9-10) was too quiet, as everyone was sorting themselves out rather than giving me work to do. This situation was understandable, though not ideal.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • It is always pleasing when the work you do is included in client presentations

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This internship will give me plenty to talk about at any future job interviews. It has given me an invaluable insight into the insurance industry.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Good levels of banter.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Generally well structured with the 7 week project. The situation with end of internship interviews was not entirely clear.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was on the job training, in that I worked on what ever my manager needed help with. I gained a good knowledge of some global clients.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Company Parties/Events

    2/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The starting salary is too low, meaning Aon runs the risk of missing out on the best graduates

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • A great group of people

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • It's lucky this was a paid internship, as London prices are extortionate

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Expensive, but worthwhile if you can afford it

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • The company allowed me to take an extra day off to do some charity work, and I also went to Snowdonia with my project group

    5/5
