The Role
I very much enjoyed the summer internship at Morgan Stanley. It was a good opportunity for me to see whether this is something I want to do for the long-term and to be exposed to the daily work of a full-time analyst.
I was involved in most of the activities that surrounded the deals I worked on.
Support and advice was available to the extent that you needed it.
There was always a lot to do and for the most part these tasks were new and exciting. There are days when you stay in late at the office.
There was always a lot to do and so tasks were really just delegated on an availability basis. Only on the most live tasks would I have a supporting role, which is acceptable.
I improved my communication skills and ability to manage deadlines, which is something that will remain useful throughout my career. Training in the first week also proved as a useful introduction for follow-on learning.
The Company
Very good atmosphere with positive and helpful people.
Very well organised and clearly something that has taken place before. There were many opportunities to network with employees and to learn if this is a career for you.
A lot. This includes one week of work-related training and several times were colleagues help you.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Car
There is always jobs available, and many people that relocate to different divisions or offices every year.
The Culture
For the most part people were focused on working but we did manage to go out together a few times.
London is known for being very expensive.
Canary Wharf is not very known for its night life. There are many surrounding places to go out however.
Work generally took up most of my time during the internship. There were definetely weekends however with free time to explore London.
