The Role
Massively, I felt like any other member of the team.
The team was very self-sufficient, so the whole team would give you help when you needed it and spend prolonged periods of time helping you with aspects that were challenging to you.
This all depended on how busy our team was. Often we could be waiting for information or help from other teams, but when our team was busy I was busy.
We were eased into the team maybe a little slowly, but as we proved ourselves with our first piece of software we were fully integrated with the team. In the team I felt as valued as any other member.
Massively, I am now doing my final year project using many of the technologies I learned at ASOS. In my year my technology skilled broadened massively as well as got deeper. The experience I gained on my year in industry is something that couldn't be matched by studying at university.
The Company
I was in the first intake of software engineering interns, so the placement was a little more flexible. Based on our feedback, I believe future years will have more structure focusing on getting you involved in your team as early as possible and then giving you a bit more flexibility afterwards.
In the technology side you learn on the job, but there are lots of personal training skill courses on offer by HR. There are also presentations each week on certain aspects of the technology around the business, which can alert you to new technologies
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Very good, I have been offered a job for after my studies.
The Culture
Yes lots of parties, and events set up by the company. As well as a very outgoing workforce.
