The Role
I enjoyed the wide range of responsibilities that I was given.
Soon after joining YouView I felt integrated into the team.
Working closely with my manager meant that they were always an opportunity to ask if I needed to. We also had weekly 1 to 1s so there was always an opportunity to discuss any problems. It also meant I was clear in what I needed to get done within specific time frames.
Because of the department I was in the workload varied depending on the business's needs at that time. This meant that there would be really busy times, in quieter times I usually had on going projects that I could go back to and work on so this didn't matter too much. There was always work to be done.
I'd say I was given quite a lot of responsibility and didn't feel like an "intern" at all. The work I was doing was the same work that a full time member of staff would be doing.
The Company
The general atmosphere amongst the office was pretty laid back and the majority of the company are software engineers who are really passionate about technology.
When we started there was a whole induction week organised where we had various sessions including, IT induction, Product Demo, Lunch with the CEO. There was also a session with the Company's charity where we were set a challenge to raise £1000.
The intern group received 2 sessions which focused on how we could get the most out of our internship and how we could use our experience here when applying for jobs in the future.

The Culture
The interns regularly had lunches together and sometimes drinks after work. There were also events like the Summer Party and Pub Quiz that the whole company would get involved with. There would usually be people going out for drinks so if you wanted to go out regularly you could.
London so on the higher end as to be expected - can seem expensive especially if you're used to uni prices.
Always loads of places to go
There were things like running clubs and 5 a side for those who wanted to get involved. There was also a Social committee within the company the regularly organised different events.
