The Role
I really enjoyed my placement I found I was given a lot of responsibility but also had a good support system from my other BA and AB if I struggled with tasks. The company was fun to work for
I felt very valued by other colleagues apart from on occasions I felt my buyer didn't understand my workload and didn't appreciate me staying late to complete just the every day tasks and was given extra or asked to investigate things to a degree that was unnecessary.
I was given quite a lot of support from my AB and other BA who helped me manage my tasks for the day and understood if they gave me something to do I had other important things to be completed first. Also if i was stuck my BA would help out.
I was very very busy on a daily basis as as my placement progressed my department ended up being 3 departments so it seemed to be triple the initial workload and found myself having to work with other teams across the floor as the department split and it got a bit messy.
I was given a lot of responsibility and I felt very involved in the role
The training and skills will help me a great deal as now I understand the buying process more and also skills like organisation and time management.
The Company
The atmosphere was great everybody got on and the social aspect was fun, I made friends for life with the other interns.
The placement was quite set up quite well as I had regular reviews
The company invested a lot of training as they treated me as a normal member of staff. I had a cross over week with the previous intern which helped.
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
I think we have the opportunity to go back, which I will definitely consider if not in a different department as the company is great.
The Culture
There wasn't much of a social scene between fellow placement students set up, only what we organised ourselves but a lot going on with other colleagues.
I lived 10 minutes away in the area of Camden which was quite expensive as all of the other students had people to live with which balanced the rent, the socialising aspect was just a general expensive London price but I saved on travel as i walked to work.
The nightlife was okay it was mainly a few pubs and bars everyone congregated in as Camden isn't the most inviting place for a night out.
Yes a few social events and sports events.
