The Role
American Express is a really great company to work for. Over my internship I was given great training, interesting projects and the opportunity to work with some fantastic people.
Both my team and the HR team were extremely welcoming, I was emailed prior to starting outlining exactly what team I would be working in and on what project, it was a really seamless onboarding
I had great exposure to senior leaders who were also happy to give the interns some time to introduce themselves and ask them questions - which was a great networking opportunity. My manager had weekly catchups with me and was very focused on helping me with my development and the director of my team also had bi-weekly meetings with me to catch up. I was also assigned a busy in my team and a grad buddy which was great to have a more informal contact for support and to ask questions to.
The workload was enough to keep me busy - it did fluctuate a bit but I was never bored and there was always work to do if you were proactive
I was assigned my own project to work on and it was ultimately my responsibility to obtain results
I had a lot of opportunities to develop my presentation skills, both through training and in practise. We also had excel training sessions
The Company
The office had a great atmosphere, everybody is extremely friendly! - it is not the serious, corporate environment you might expect

The Culture
There were loads of intern events which included: a trip to see the Lion King on the west end, champagne on the London Eye and a boat trip on the Thames
I am living in Brighton for the 10 weeks - it wasn't London prices, but it wasn't cheap.
Loads of places to go!
