    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Great company. Great products. Fun lively atmosphere. My particular job was interesting in theory and had some good projects to do but was given fairly dull jobs a fair amount.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • Really lovely team who always looked out for you and valued your input. Sometimes felt grads got praise for work done by interns.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Manager knew everything there was to know and was always helpful and understanding when you asked. He was too busy to look after an intern really so I was quite often left to my own devices which meant setting my own work, which I enjoyed but was sometimes a bit annoying when I had no idea what I was meant to be doing and he wasn't around to ask.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Honestly varied such a lot, some days I would not stop once and not have time for lunch and have to stay late and other days would have basically nothing to do. Everything seemed to come at once and L'Oreal has a very fast/ last minute culture where pieces of work are set one day and due the next so quite difficult to spread it out even if you want to.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • By the end especially I felt I had total responsibility for my projects and my manager would trust me to work with the retailers unsupervised.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Really learnt such a lot, and very varied. Will be useful in applying to any job! Already seeing the benefits in my degree now back in third year.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • So busy, lively, fun. If you like working in silence this is not the place for you! Really creative and innovative atmosphere. Office socials almost every week, free bar one the last Thursday of every month.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Good set up with set review times and intro sessions plus HR organised events and intern committe which helped bring everyone together. Felt HR could have checked how we were getting along at some point tho, I didn't speak to them seriously once after the first week.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Job specific training e.g. how to use the software and stuff. Optional company wide training in diversity but nothing else. The grads get a lot of training.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Would definitely work for them again if it was the pefect job for me

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • 100%. All friends, went out a lot together in London and some people lived together. Makes work so much better when you've got a massive group of friends there.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • London- obviously very expensive but your getting paid and never have before so feel rich. And you still get student discount and don't have to pay council tax. And your all in the same boat so it's fine. You'll learn to love the cocktail deals at be at one across the road.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • No nightlife as in clubs at all in Hammersmith. But in nearby places in London there's loads. And in Hammersmith there's lots of nice pubs, restaurants, a theatre

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • They have sports teams and things where you can go on tours abroad! Also have a paid day where you go and volunteer somewhere.

    4/5
