  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed making a real contribution to the department I was in. The support from my line manager and colleagues was very helpful and made me feel comfortable during my time there.

  • I felt very valued and was given the same support as colleagues already in the company.

  • My line manager ensured I was making the most of my placement and we had a weekly catch up meeting to see how I was getting on.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied depending on my workload. I always had something to be working on.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The responsibility I was given reflected how much time I had to do things, i.e if my workload was running low, I was given more responsibility on projects and also if I was capable to do the required tasks.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I learnt invaluable presentation skills as well as time management which will help in my final year at uni.

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was very chilled and promoted good teamwork. The open layout of the office allowed ease of communication.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • There were a few delays in the HR aspects and initially getting set up but was I was stuck into my placement I found it very well structured.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had to complete various e-learning modules which provided me with adequate knowledge of the company. I was also allowed to experience shadowing days of different departments to get an overview of the company.

  • I have been offered a position of the graduate scheme which I have accepted.

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Yes, there were many events where we could all get together and meet other interns.

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I lived at home so costs were minimal, and social life in Birmingham is reasonably priced.

  • There is a very lively nightlife and always lots to do.

  • There were various charity days organised by the emerging talent team.
