The Role
Had a great time with Amex. The people are really nice and the culture is really friendly. They laid on lots of good socials for the interns and, in marketing, there were lots of general office socials. Good work/life balance too.
I was treated just like any other colleague and given a lot of responsibility from the very start. Although it was quite overwhelming, I felt like an important member of the team.
My manager was very supportive, however did give me the opportunity to make my own decisions and find my own way around things - this was nerve-wracking and there was room to make mistakes but meant I learned a lot.
Very! I had a lot to do but still was encouraged to not take on too much and work 9-5 only. Good balance!
Lots. My project was a lot of responsibility and I was given full leadership of it. It was important the company too and I felt like I made a difference.
My confidence has increased dramatically and this is really useful. Also, my work ethic is much stronger having worked in an office environment. I learned a lot from the internship.
The Company
Very friendly. We had fun and everyone seemed to get along.
Fairly well organised. We had lots of good socials and my project was good for me. However, I was put in a team where my manager, co-worker and buddy were all out of office in the first week. This made it quite difficult to adjust.
They gave us training sessions in things like Excel and presentation skills and we had presentations from all different sections of the business. We learned a lot and a lot of time wa made for us.
