    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really enjoyed the year!

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt really valued and a healthy distance was maintained

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Any/all questions were answered and I never felt I'd asked a stupid question or that my supervisor was too busy to help me.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I was extremely busy at the start, but my supervisor helped me to manage my workload so I could keep my "head above water"

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • My role was to provide information for other members of the team to make decisions, I feel I had complete control about my projects and was free to approach them however I saw fit

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I hope to build on the insight gained in the future and I feel far more confident in my abilities

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The office was a really varied environment, at times it was a quiet place and others it was a real social hub.

    3/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The placement was well organised and there was support available if/when needed

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • 3M provided a few general training events on productivity and "personal brand", however the undergrad placement students were not supplied specific training; six sigma, insights, gap negotiation courses which (apparently) has been done in the past.

    3/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    National Travel

    Company Parties/Events

    Above 25 days holiday

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • The company has a "hire to retire" scheme which is fantastic and if this was readily available then 3M would get a 10 and I'd sign up immediately. A headcount freeze has meant the prospect of a lifelong career at 3M is ever waning. There are agency staff that have worked for 3M for upwards of 5 years without offers of employment by 3M.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • Everytime a group event/ training day was organised by the company all the students would go out for a meal/social.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Loughborough is brilliantly cheap! And there are loads of things to get involved with at the university even if youre not a student.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • echoes echoes echoes.

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • there were barbecues and socials laid on by 3M which were good fun!

    4/5
