The Role
I very much enjoyed my time working within the Human Resources Industrial Placement for Gist Ltd. The work is tough and challenging but you are treated with respect and given a good amount of responsibility within your role.
I felt very valued by my colleagues throughout my placement and was not treated like a placement student but more of a member of a wider operational team in a substantive role.
I was given a variety of support though formal and non-formal processes by a wide range of managers within the business.
My work load varied between the different locations between my placement whereby the first was very much structured and the second much more ADHOC - overall the work load was well balanced.
I was given a large amount of responsibility throughout my placement ranging from the day to day running of an operational site and owning and management specific processes within Graduate and Industrial Placement recruitment.
I believe that the skills I have developed from working in a real business environment and through Gist's training will stand me in very good stead with any future career within Human Resources.
The Company
The general atmosphere of my office was always very friendly and supportive.
The overall placement was very well organised and structured throughout; with a plan put in place for both my time in Head Office and at an Operational Depot to maximise my experience.
Gist invested in me through varied training either via on the job training or by a number of in-house sessions held at Depots and Head Office
National Travel
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Healthcare/Dental
The future prospects within Gist Ltd are very appealing for all of the schemes offered.
The Culture
There was a good social scene between the Industrial Placement Students and Graduates during the Induction and at Operational Depot's if placed together.
The cost of living was quite expensive in Basingstoke where Gist's Head Office is based but the cost is manageable.
Unfortunately the Night life was not existent in Basingstoke but a lot of the Operational Depot's are near major cities where the Night life is much better.
