Community and Conservation Volunteering and Internships in Madagascar

Madagascar has been isolated for over 165 million years, creating a biodiversity resource of global significance, with over 80% of species found nowhere else on earth, including leaping Sifaka Lemurs, Lesser Mouse Lemurs or even the elusive Fat-tailed Dwarf Lemur. Reptiles include tortoises, snakes, iguanas, and a vast array of chameleons, including both the smallest and largest in the world. The variety of life is reflected in the strong cultural heritage of the Malagasy people, contributing to the island's name as "Island of the Ancestors" with their belief in the power of the dead to protect and guide the living.

Frontier’s Madagascar Teaching project gives you the opportunity to experience teaching kids in a village school, and to earn your TEFL certificate for free.

On the Madagascar Marine Conservation and Diving project, volunteers and interns will earn their PADI diving qualifications and take part in conservation surveying work to help preserve the pristine reefs of this remote island.

The Madagascar Wildlife Adventure offers volunteers and interns the chance to live among and study some of Madagascar’s unique and endemic species, including lemurs and chameleons.
