Human Resources Student Placement

Responsibilities & Duties

You will provide support in a variety of project and day-to-day HR activities across the whole employee lifecycle. You will play an active role in all our HR teams including talent acquisition, compensation & benefits, talent development and HR governance and the HR generalist team. You will help to support the execution of HR programs & processes as well as improve or create new offerings and initiatives in areas such as employee wellbeing, engagement and reward, recognition and diversity, equality & inclusion.   

Working alongside and supported by the relevant HR colleagues, you will be involved with HR initiatives such as:

  • Talent attraction – learning about the role of talent attraction and getting actively involved in the acquisition process. Developing our digital attraction strategy with a continued focus on early careers. 
  • Giving feedback and developing improvements for the onboarding experience, and supporting in the delivery of the welcome day.
  • Supporting our continuous improvement approach to the governance of our job descriptions.  
  • Supporting in the area of talent development and performance management, by using data and analytics as well as actively developing learning pathways and promoting our new learning initiative; the ‘BI University’. 
  • Participating in the Wellbeing and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion teams, and supporting and leading with the calendar of activities.
  • Compensation and Reward: helping us prepare for the pay transparency legislation changes and working on pay topics like pay equity and competitive market data for roles. Supporting in the benefit platform project and leading on a review and potential redesign of our long service awards. 
  • Supporting in the delivery of our HR data reports for example sickness data
  • Other people related activities, as assigned including a range of general HR admin

Requirements

  • Human Resources undergraduate tracking a 2:1 with a BBC in A levels.
  • Can demonstrate success in assignments to date demonstrating good knowledge in the HR field and a commitment to being accountable for their success.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Proven experience in establishing and maintaining good working relationships with others
  • Enthusiastic and motivated team player.
  • Proactive: Identifies, assesses and addresses potential issues for improvement. Actively promotes continuous improvement of HR policies and standards.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to take initiative, with limited supervision in a sometimes pressured environment. Seeks and utilises support from others but balanced with the ability to manage their time, and priorities to deliver. 
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Responsive: Commits to keeping relevant stakeholders informed of their progress and asks for help when needed.
  • Results oriented: Delivers the right thing, on time, with quality and accuracy.
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office packages especially Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
