Cyber Security Industrial Placement

What will the Cyber Security Industrial Placement scheme involve?

This scheme is based at our Head Office in Whiteley (Hampshire) or in our Air Traffic Control Centre in Swanwick (Hampshire) however we have adopted ‘agile working’ which will enable you, where possible, to have the opportunity and flexibility to work in our modern office facilities as well as at home.

NATS is part of the UK’s Critical National Infrastructure, and as such cybersecurity is fundamental to the safety of our critical systems. NATS operates capabilities across the range of cybersecurity competencies, such as policy, standards, architecture/design, threat intelligence and security operations. NATS is driving a positive security culture across the organisation and opportunities exist to support our business units to address the range of security challenges that arise.

During your placement you will support this mission by rotating through at least two key areas of the business, covering at least some of the following activities:

  • Support transformational aviation technology programmes to embed security by design.
  • Carry out risk assessments on critical aviation systems.
  • Review threat intelligence.
  • Perform reviews of security measures to ensure they remain fit for purpose.
  • Help to drive a positive security culture by building cyber security skills across the organisation; and
  • Work with stakeholders to help resolve a range of security challenges.
