ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of the New Categories team.

The role is responsible for for designing, developing and testing the electrical components of technology blocks, providing integration teams with viable options that can be utilised in new and upgraded products.
Reports to: Head of Electronics & Software Engineering

Reporting Level: Individual Contributor

Geographic Scope: Global

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Explore, read and review component specification document and perform the technical analysis for function fit
  • Test and qualify alternative components to ensure key performance aspects are met
  • Utilise skills and experience in development, circuit testing, assembly and prototyping to assist with the production of multiple device prototypes, contributing towards a finalised solution that meets the all project and business requirements and expectations
  • Support communications with BAT’s internal teams and development partners to create functional electrical solutions, demonstrating how they satisfy the defined project requirements
  • Provide regular project/workstream management updates and tracking progress towards milestones
  • Diagnostic testing to root cause the issue on existing product and drafting reports for further assessment and resolution
  • Problem-solve any identified issues whenever possible, escalating to the other Electronics Engineers or team lead when necessary
  • Assist with the protection of innovations by secure IP, liaising with the LEX department for patent work via the Senior Electronics Engineer

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Experience in electronics engineering, semiconductor, industry automation or software engineering.
  • An understanding of Electronics development, and an ability to understand and analyse new ideas or technology.
  • Project management skills and experience would be beneficial.
  • Basic skillset of making schematic and layout (Altium or Pads).
  • Open minded, proactive and self-driving.
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant field of study (i.e., electronics engineering, automation, software engineering).
