ROLE POSITIONING AND OBJECTIVES

This role is part of the IDC team and will suit candidates that have a natural curiosity in how things work and what drives transformations of materials. Blending practical skills with an analytical approach to develop and run experiments that will contribute to process technology selections. The candidate needs a good understanding of engineering principles, with a strong mechanical aptitude combined with outstanding analytical approach to interpret data and present findings in a coherent manner.

The role is responsible for supporting a wide variety of projects that develop & evaluate industrial processing technologies that can enhance product performance and/or optimise BAT’s suite of production technologies available. The candidate needs a good understanding of engineering principles, with a strong mechanical aptitude combined with outstanding analytical approach to interpret data and present findings in a coherent manner.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR

  • Develop understanding on how to design & execute process experiments.
  • Understand Transformational Process Flows through various process technologies.
  • Develop understanding of link between process technologies and product performance seeking solutions to address product quality and / or performance issues.
  • Understand how to operate as a collaborator with the wider R&D and Product Development space to build robustness and technical capability
  • Review existing methods for assessment of processes, then contribute to developing & documenting new methods as required.
  • Develop and document SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) to enable cascade of learnings to the wider business.
  • Source, acquire and manage installation & commissioning of any required equipment to conduct experiments including co-ordinating and documenting any training requirements.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Candidates will come from an Engineering discipline such as Chemical, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Influence people to deliver shared goals.
  • Proactively seek learning opportunities.
  • Thinks clearly and is able to create a simple plan to communicate complex engineering and scientific.
  • Lead innovation and challenge the status quo
  • A good understanding of engineering principles, with a strong mechanical aptitude combined with outstanding analytical approach to interpret data and present findings in a coherent manner.
