BMW UK, Farnborough - Aftersales Channel Development - 13 month placement (Jul 2022)

Aftersales Channel Development is focused on creating products and programmes to deliver a class leading customer experience for owners of BMW and MINI vehicles. As the student intern, you will be an integral part of a team, working on a diverse range of topics all geared at enhancing our ownership proposition in a competitive marketplace. This is an opportunity to experience a diverse and fast paced area of the BMW organisation, operating as a key member of the team.

What will you be doing?

  • This role is cross functional, giving the opportunity to work across Marketing, Digital, Ecommerce, Service and Parts areas, as well as interfacing with other departments within the organisation and our Retailer Network.
  • As part of the role, you will be involved in the commercial elements of the business, which will include gaining an understanding of the return on investment of our activities, monitoring competitor activity and interacting with contacts across our third party partner/agency landscape.
  • The role will involve offsite meetings, so a willingness to travel is key, although the majority of your time will be spent at Summit One in Farnborough.
  • Build effective working relationships with the many stakeholders involved with e-commerce, with a view to maximising the success of BMW Group’s Aftersales e-commerce stores.
  • Work with members of the Aftersales Product team to effectively integrate BMW & MINI ecommerce channels into their planned marketing activities and also effectively expand the product portfolio.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to effectively deal with negative customer experiences on ecommerce sales channels, with a view to providing an exceptional customer experience.
  • First point of contact for staff working on the operational side of BMW’s Aftersales e-commerce business – providing help and guidance as required.
  • Schedule and facilitate meetings with various e-commerce stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Support the other Channel Development areas with regular accurate reporting.
  • Represent BMW UK at a number of external events, engaging with members of the public accordingly.

Qualifications

  • On track for a 2:2 in a Business- or IT-related degree.
  • Any customer facing roles in the past would be beneficial.
  • Experience selling online either on your own ecommerce platform or one of the major online marketplaces would be advantageous.
  • Detail orientated with a firm grasp of the English language.
  • Interpersonal skills are a must as you will be dealing with many people on a daily basis.
  • A thirst for learning, an eye for detail and a creative flare would all be beneficial in this role.
  • It is also essential that you are able to work both as part of a team and individually on projects, adding value and delivering against our deadlines / targets.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written – essential due to requirement to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, some of whom have conflicting interests.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects simultaneously.
  • High levels of attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Interest in e-commerce and/or strong awareness of online stores desirable.
  • Pro-active customer service skills desirable.
  • Accounting and bookkeeping experience desirable but not essential.
