We’re looking for a driven and ambitious undergrad to join our agriculture team on a 12-month placement. If you’re a natural team player with a passion for developing your career, we can offer you an amazing opportunity to do just that with a business that always puts people at the heart of its strategy.

As an undergraduate agricultural coordinator at the Co-op, you’ll be an integral part of our award-winning farming and fisheries team. We’ll look to you to work with partners across the farming community, helping develop agricultural plans and create powerful relationships which demonstrate and deliver Co-op’s commitment to supporting British agriculture.

What you’ll do

  • support the delivery of Co-op’s farming and food strategy
  • support agricultural managers in enabling the delivery of great quality products and innovation
  • represent the Co-op at major agricultural shows and Co-op farming group meetings
  • help to deliver key agricultural messages through PR and marketing opportunities
  • co-ordinate projects and provide a link between Co-op and our suppliers
  • deliver presentations to help us to discover new and exciting opportunities
  • regularly travel and carry out site visits to our suppliers nationwide

This role will suit people who have

  • a real passion for food and animal welfare
  • a current undergraduate status on an agriculture or environmental sciences related degree
  • a good understanding of the basic principles of agricultural supply chains
  • a truly enthusiastic and organised approach
  • great communication and networking skills, with the ability to build great relationships and influence all kinds of people
  • strong analytical skills, with a logical approach to solving complex problems
  • a professional attitude with the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • confidence working both independently and as a team

Why Co-op?

As a Co-op undergraduate placement, you’ll do work that matters in an organisation where principles are just as important as profits. You’ll also get a package that includes:

  • a competitive salary
  • 28 days holiday (plus bank holidays)
  • coaching, training and support to help you develop
  • discounts on Co-op products and services including 20% in Co-op food stores
  • a laptop and smart phone provided

Building an inclusive workplace

We’re actively building diverse teams and welcome applications from everyone. But simply having a diverse workforce is not enough. We aim to build an inclusive environment, where everyone can contribute their best work and develop to their full potential. We celebrate our differences and recognise the importance of teams reflecting the communities they serve.

We can make reasonable adjustments to our interview process according to your needs. And we offer a flexible working environment, so you can adjust your hours to suit your personal circumstances. You can find out more about Co-op people policies at colleagues.coop.co.uk.

As part of your application you’ll need to complete an online assessment. It will take you around 12 minutes to complete this test.
