Consumer Healthcare Insight Industrial Placement

Degree requirements:

You should be studying a Business Studies, Business Management, Marketing, Business Analytics or related degree. You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree, but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You may be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year and they are supportive of your placement.

Role 1 – Global Insights and Analytics Cross Category, Greater London

You will be joining the Global Insights & Analytics team where the culture is fast paced and energetic, and the leaders are approachable. We work on a range of ad-hoc and continuous market research projects across all GSK consumer health brands, collecting key insights and data from our consumers, shoppers and experts (such as dentists and doctors).

The role of an IP working in the Global Insights & Analytics team is to provide a link between real life consumers and marketers working inside GSK. You will support the team across multiple types of research and can work across numerous research disciplines e.g. qualitative & quantitative research, ethnography, tracking. We are a close-knit team so you will find yourself part of key strategic workstreams, making a difference to GSK brands and learning about consumers, shoppers and experts from day 1.

What will you do?

  • Collecting information from key stakeholders
  • Communicating with our network of Insight leads across the Globe
  • Writing clear and concise research briefs
  • Translating a research brief into a research plan – selecting the best route to finding out the information
  • Managing good working relationships with key agency partners in order to ensure smooth running of market research projects to meet objectives
  • Leading the work including full analysis of market research studies and other information sources
  • Giving recommendations based on research findings
  • Co-ordinating the regular issue of our Performance Measurement dashboard
  • Maintaining the research database system
  • Producing succinct input to business projects
  • Develop research ability and be able to mine through data to report summaries to our network of Insight Leads

Role 2 – Global Insights Oral Health, Weybridge

The role of an IP working in the Global Insights team is to provide a link between real life consumers and marketers working inside GSK and you will be involved in projects across innovation, packaging, advertising, trends and much more. You will become a key part of the Oral Health Insights team in Weybridge and part of the wider Global Consumer & Business Insights & Analytics Community (CBIA) with representatives across 14 regions. You will be involved in the following:

Managing Research Projects:

  • Collecting information and taking briefs from key stakeholders
  • Writing a clear and concise research brief and delivering to research agencies
  • Translating a research brief into a research plan – selecting the best route to finding out the information
  • Leading projects including full analysis of market research and other information sources
  • Particular use of agile digital research tools to keep up to date with market trends and social activity (eg. Ipsos Digital, Zappi, Google Trends)
  • Giving recommendations based on research findings
  • Working closely with cross functional teams: Marketing, R&D, Consumer Science, Regulatory/Medical.

Ensuring usage of insights to client teams

  • Promoting The Observatory research library for Oral Health
  • Producing succinct input to business projects
  • Develop research ability and be able to mine data into report summaries for insight managers

The individual will develop a wide variety of skills over the 12 month industrial placement. In particular: interpersonal skills, teamwork, project management skills, influencing people and the ability to turn research and data into insights.

Role 3 – Global Insights Expert, Weybridge

The Global Expert Team (GET) is responsible for ensuring Experts (Healthcare Professionals) are clearly embedded as a key growth lever in GSK; we develop global guidelines and share best-practice capabilities to drive alignment on Global Expert strategy across the organisation.

The Global Insights team is part of the wider CBIA team and works within the Global Expert Team providing the link between our Experts (HCPS) and marketers. We work on a range of adhoc and continuous market research projects across all GSK consumer health brands, collecting key insights and data from our Experts, ranging from tracking performance to the development of marketing materials.

The role of an IP in our Insights Team will be to support us on these projects, you will get exposure to multiple types of research and have the opportunity to work across numerous research disciplines e.g. qualitative & quantitative research, ethnography, tracking. We are a close-knit team working in a fast-paced, fun environment with approachable leaders, so you will find yourselves part of key strategic workstreams, making a difference to GSK brands and learning about Experts from day 1.

What will you do?

  • Support Global Expert Insights team to set-up, manage and deliver global market research projects, this will include
  • Developing clear and concise market research alongside marketing stakeholders
  • Managing good working relationships with key agency partners in order to ensure smooth running of market research projects to meet objectives
  • Actively taking part in workshops and collaborating with teams to identify opportunities for growth and developing Expert strategy
  • Supporting the management and delivery of our Expert performance tracking and RGM studies
  • Taking responsibility for various elements of ad hoc market research studies from the initial Kick-off, management in field to the delivery of results
  • You will be given the opportunity to take ownership of various initiatives as you develop in your role, this might be:
    • Taking the lead in sharing market research findings across the business e.g. running ‘lunch and learns’ and insights sessions with a wider audience
    • Speaking directly to Experts as part of our ‘Expert Closeness’ program and helping the Expert marketing team develop an ‘Expert Obsession’ by leading training, moderation and analysis of Skype IO interview program
    • Developing our Expert Insights profile across the organisation sharing insights on Workplace and our ‘Expert Obsession’ GSK Tube channel
    • Initiating and expanding the collection of competitor insights as part of ‘Expert Obsession’ program to share across the wider team.
