Business Diversity Internship

Applications will open in September 2021. Follow us on LinkedIn to keep up to date.

We want people from diverse backgrounds at every level of our business, so we’re launching our Business Diversity internship to ensure we attract talent into our business that we can nurture and grow. This paid, 10-week programme over the summer will give you real-life experience in a key area of our business, building valuable skills to support your future career. You'll be supporting a key project, with the potential to positively affect the lives of millions of customers, as well as colleagues and communities!

You could be in the Distribution Support Office, helping us to meet our climate change targets by supporting the roll-out of electric delivery vans. Or maybe you’ll join the Fresh Food team, working with suppliers to add new plant-based products to our range, so we can offer customers affordable, plant-based alternatives. From Marketing to Procurement, HR to Supply Chain, whichever team you join, we’ll make sure you maximise your opportunity to learn and develop.

A successful internship with us can guarantee your place on our new Business graduate programme when you graduate - before you’ve even started your final year of study!

Who we are looking for

We’re looking for self-motivated and entrepreneurially-spirited undergraduates, who can work collaboratively to deliver a project in our business. You don’t need previous work experience to apply. You need to be in your penultimate year of study and from one or more of the following backgrounds:

  • Ethnic minority
  • Socially or economically disadvantaged
  • Consider yourself to have a disability
  • Identify as LGBTQ+

Working at our Welwyn Garden City campus

Our leafy, green campus is just 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Welwyn Garden City with its many shops, restaurants, pubs and sports facilities. Close to the A1, and with frequent trains running to Finsbury Park in just 20 minutes (free shuttle buses take you between the station and office), the campus is well connected to the surrounding area.

On campus you’ll find subsidised restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a Tesco Express to pick up your lunch or last-minute essentials. You can join the on-site Nuffield Health gym, which has state-of-the-art fitness equipment, two studios for group classes, plus treatment rooms (membership costs £23.50 per month).

About Tesco

At Tesco, we welcome individuality and uniqueness. We always want our colleagues to feel they can be themselves at work and we’re committed to helping them be at their best. We’re building an inclusive workplace, a place to actively celebrate the cultures, personalities and preferences of our colleagues who share the same purpose, to serve our customers a little better every day, and you’ll have a unique part to play.
