National IT Placement (Business Intelligence Placement)

We are looking for someone to work alongside the team of Business Intelligence and Reporting Analysts to liaise with various business units to produce and interpret reports that will enable managers to make more informed decisions.

You will be responsible for manipulating large amounts of data, primarily using SQL through SSRS but and other technologies to produce reliable, accurate and informative reports that meet the business demands. There will be the opportunity for you to work independently on projects that will deliver tangible benefits to a global company.

Ideally you will have a background or interest in data manipulation and report creation with strong SQL skills. You will be provided with the necessary level of supervision throughout the placement but should be able to confidently communicate with different areas of the business so good people skills would be required.

From the moment you start at Aldi, we’ll look after you properly. You’ll get £25,375* for the 12 months you spend with us, together with 4 weeks’ holiday allowance (plus bank holidays). If the role fits, we’d love you to apply for a permanent role after you graduate.

*Based on a 50 hour contract.

To be eligible to apply, you’ll need to be working towards a 2:1 in any discipline on a sandwich degree course. You’ll also have a minimum of 96 UCAS points (240 if using the old tariff) from your top 3 A-levels (excluding general studies). Please note we also accept 63 Scottish Highers (150 points if using the old tariff) as an equivalent to UCAS points. It’s important you have the right to work in the UK. And, while you don’t require access to a car, you’ll still need a driving licence.

The National IT department

The National IT department is at the very heart of Aldi. We're made up of small high-performing teams, and you can expect plenty of exposure plus hands-on experience of an IT department within a global company. Typically, you could join us as part of a technical team supporting the live business, part of a large scale project team or even have responsibility for a smaller scale project by yourself.

Many of the opportunities available will depend on what's going on with the business at the time. We have opportunities in various exciting areas of IT, including: Hardware and Systems, Business Intelligence and Reporting, E-commerce, Store Payments and Ahead Project Coordinators.
