Initial Teacher Training Placement

Get Into Teaching is a free service provided by the Department for Education to give information and advice to those who are looking at a career in teaching.

Register with our dedicated Teacher Training Advice service to access free support and advice on how you can get into teaching. We’ll help you with everything from keeping you updated with the latest information on financial support, arranging school experience, to preparing a strong application to teacher training.

Good teachers are in demand and there are excellent employment prospects – in fact, 94% of newly qualified teachers are employed in a teaching role six months after qualifying.

Once you’ve qualified, you’ll benefit from a competitive starting salary of at least £24,373, or £30,480 in inner London. You’ll also have opportunities for rapid career progression, pay increases and a generous pension.

During your training year, you could benefit from a tax-free bursary of up to £26,000 or apply for a scholarship of up to £28,000 awarded to the most gifted trainees in physics, maths, chemistry, computing, languages, or geography in partnership with highly regarded professional subject associations.
