The role

During your stay within the Biochemistry team, the post holder will perform biophysical and kinetic experiments aimed at understanding efficiency and accuracy of Illumina's Sequencing technology.

You will initially shadow, then work in collaboration with other team members, on a number of different instruments and assay formats to generate mechanistic information about clustering and SBS.

By the end of the internship, you will be expected to be working fairly independently, generate accurate reports, and give presentations to the Team.

This will give you an excellent background in the main biophysical techniques used across the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. This will be an exciting opportunity to bring together the findings from these cutting-edge techniques into the context of our own next generation sequencing technologies.

Preferred background, skills and experience

  • BSc in Biochemistry or Chemistry or 2nd year of the degree
  • Completed modules in basic biochemistry, and enzymology or chemistry.
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills within a multi-disciplinary team and cross-functional departments
  • Detail oriented with excellent hands-on laboratory and experimental skills
  • Keen interest in understanding the mechanistic aspects of biochemical processes
