  • Improving the quality of human sequencing
  • Analysing sources of errors in sequencing
  • Cloud Software

The role

This is an excellent opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary environment where science intersect with clinical applications and to contribute to transforming the way information from genome sequencing is harnessed for the benefit of patients.

Possible project opportunities include:

  • Applying analytical skills to evaluate DNA sequencing quality by quantifying sources of noise and errors
  • Using machine learning, signal processing or image processing skills to improve the quality of DNA sequencing
  • Modelling aspects of biological or physical systems
  • Developing and deploying methods and tools for use by wider teams
  • Combining existing code and libraries with new code in Python, R or C++
  • Delivering timely results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred Background, Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Currently studying a bachelor’s or masters in bioinformatics, computer science, physics, statistics, or a scientific course which has included modules in some or all of the above disciplines.
  • An interest in genomics and clinical applications of genome sequencing.
  • Some experience in a programming language such as C++, Python or R, ideally gained during a project, employment or self-study.
  • Experience in data analysis, machine learning, statistics or inference would be advantageous.
