Risk Placement

We’re looking for hardworking and motivated industrial placement students to join our Risk Management, Pricing and Transformation Teams in multiple locations across the country. You'll quickly feel part of our team thanks to friendly colleagues and a positive working environment.

We’re a large and diverse organisation with a wide range of roles on offer. Broadly, there are two types of opportunity available to you depending on the skills you possess, where you're passionate about contributing and developing during your time with us. The majority of the opportunities are technical, but we welcome applications from all backgrounds. Applicants should have excellent A-levels, a record of achievement and initiative beyond their academic studies, with a strong desire to succeed.

During the Coronavirus pandemic, all non-customer-facing staff in the company (including our current intake of industrial placement students) are all working from home. This has been challenging but we’ve adapted quickly. We managed to onboard our new students by sending out IT equipment directly to their homes and we provided lots of support and training by video conferencing.

Assessments for this scheme will definitely be carried out remotely this year (by video link and phone), with no travel required. If the pandemic situation remains the same by the summer, then this placement may start on a “working from home” basis. Working from home for all LBG colleagues must be within the UK, so if you are a foreign student you will need to relocate to the UK if you secure a placement. We remain hopeful that we will get back into offices at some point in 2021 therefore office location is still important, and so if successful, you should be prepared to attend the office location you are allocated to on a full time basis as soon as it is safe to do so.

Technical Analysts

  • Strong numerical skills
  • An analytical mindset
  • An ability or an interest in learning and using coding skills

As a Technical Analyst, you might be analysing credit risk such as the likelihood of customers making repayments. You could be developing models to assess customer behaviour, be at the heart of our regular stress testing activities required by our regulators or help determine how our products are priced.

Many of the roles use SAS which is a leading business programming language used for reporting, analysing and modelling our rich customer data. Previous experience of this is advantageous, but is not expected.

Non-Technical Analysts

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Great organisational skills
  • Engaging communication skills and the ability to influence others

As a Non-Technical Analyst, you could find yourself in one of a broad range of positions - perhaps analysing operational risks or helping to set risk policy. You could play an important role in one of the many huge change projects across the bank. You could even help manage the communications to the whole Risk Division.

There are relatively fewer opportunities available in this category.
