Project Management Placement

Who you are:

You’re a self-starter with a strong work ethic. You have an inquisitive nature and are not afraid to challenge the way things are done. You’re able to present and communicate alternative ideas in a clear and confident manner. With strong organisation skills, a cool head and an eye for the detail, you’re able to solve problems with a calm and pragmatic approach. You enjoy working as part of a team and have empathy towards others.

What you’ll be doing:

You will sit within a function that provides project and business change management across a wide-ranging portfolio of projects across different areas including Engineering Assets, Safety, Environment, Security, Research and Development, Innovation and Information Management.

You will be supporting the delivery of a safer and better performing railway by providing a world class professional services to the wider business organisation.

During your placement you will be involved in project management and business change projects and gain exposure in the following areas:

  • Delivery of projects to time, cost and quality using appropriate methodology
  • Identify and engaging with stakeholders
  • Management of project and programme risk
  • Embed and deliver business change within Network Rail Regions and Routes

This placement will give you an overview of project management and a chance to get involved in real projects. Previous year in industry placements have worked on developing new technologies, crime remediation solutions, European rail initiatives, environmental projects and much more. This is an exciting opportunity to develop whilst working across the business and with industry partners to deliver Network Rails strategic objectives.

Entry requirements:

You must be in your penultimate year of your degree and be on course to achieve at least a 2:2 in any degree discipline.
