Quality Systems Industrial Placement

Role 1: Pharma Quality Processes

Job Purpose: To ensure core Quality Processes (e.g. deviation/change/CAPA/documentation management, customer complaints, supplier quality and laboratory data) are compliantly and effectively implemented in place and in use. Promote adherence and understanding for these processes across site, and seek opportunities to improve and streamline these processes to be easy to use and ensure efficient compliance.

Degree Requirements: Must be studying a degree in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy or science related degrees

Responsibilities include:

An opportunity exists for a candidate with a strong science background to work within the Quality Processes team that support the manufacture and production of a range of pharmaceutical products at the GSK Ware Site.

The Quality Processes team promote quality and compliance throughout the product lifecycle within production operations. This entails monitoring all quality related processes (change control, documentation management, deviation investigations, CAPA creation and management and human factors) to not only meet Quality Management System requirements but to streamline these processes to be easy to use and improve compliance.

The successful candidate will integrate into the Quality Processes team and be expected to deliver a business or continuous improvement project. In addition to this, opportunities will arise to support day to day operations, working in a safe and compliant manner. Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will build a great understanding of pharmaceutical quality and compliance activities.

At the end of the placement, the student will be expected to collate a summary of their work and present this to the business to provide a range of recommendations.

During this placement you will be contributing to ensuring our pharmaceutical products are manufactured to stringent quality and safety standards by;

  • Learning and supporting day to day quality processes activities, e.g. raising change controls, observing and coaching CAPA panels, facilitating investigation clinics, working with suppliers to understand root cause of vendor defects, investigating customer complaints.
  • Following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and being compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Designing and delivering a business or continuous improvement project with the aim of improved compliance, increased efficiencies and/or process simplifications.

Role 2: Digital and Improvement

Job Purpose: To deliver digital and improvement projects to deliver business value in the Quality function and/or for Quality systems and processes which span across site.

Degree Requirements: Must be studying a degree in Science; Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, Data

You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You will be expected to provide evidence from your university to show you will be an undergraduate student for the duration of the placement year.

Responsibilities include:

An exciting opportunity exists for a candidate with a strong science background to work within the Quality Digital & Improvement team that support the manufacture and production of a range of pharmaceutical products at the GSK Ware Site.

The Digital & Improvement team deliver benefit to the business by creating digital solutions and leading improvement activities which improve compliance, product quality, safety and/or drive business efficiencies. This team must keep up to date with digital advancements and use coaching to generate capability / knowledge across the Quality organisation and promote a continuous improvement culture.

A successful candidate will be expected to deliver at least one digital solution or continuous improvement project to positively impact the business. In addition to this, opportunities will arise to support day to day operations to meet business demands, such as leading deviation investigations. Exposure to this high volume and fast paced environment will enable the individual to be part of the future of the pharmaceutical industry and build capabilities which will be transferrable to almost any role in the future.

The student will be expected to collate a summary of their work and present this to the business.
