Assurance Summer Internship

Build on your skills. Share your knowledge. Explore our ever-changing world.

Get a real feel for the business world with on-the-job experience and opportunities to meet influential experts. With a front-seat view into your future, you can learn about the incredible experience you can build for yourself. You can discover what it takes to audit a business while developing skills that’ll complement your career. And you can define your purpose while activating ours. Find yourself in Assurance at EY.

What is Assurance at EY?

Our Assurance teams analyse the data behind our clients’ businesses. As external auditors, they help companies and governments publish accurate financial accounts that their clients and industry regulators can rely on. When it comes to the audit process, our job is to solve big accounting and reporting challenges, voice our opinions to audit committees and do it all on time, as a team and with future improvement in mind.

The quality of our audits starts with our 90,000 assurance professionals, who have the breadth of experience and ongoing professional development that come from auditing many of the world’s leading companies.

What will you be doing?

Here, you’ll work to make sure that businesses are protected from risks that can affect their reputation and performance. You’ll help us to advise companies and governments, even helping them to publish accurate financial accounts others can rely on. Your work could also include:

  • Gaining exposure to EY and networking with colleagues from different levels of the business
  • Building your knowledge of our clients and how we support them
  • Taking part in a specific service line case study
  • Developing core skills in Business writing, effective time management, client service and personal brand through structured learning and self-directed learning
  • Supported by an EY mentor and Buddy throughout the internship

You might also need to take on more work, and you should be prepared to do longer hours and spend a greater amount of time working on client engagements, particularly during busy season. While we hope things will return back to normal next year, you should bear in mind that our projects and travel requirements could still be affected, and could be subject to change at short notice.

You’ll have the opportunity to take part in web-based training, shadow senior colleagues and even visit clients’ offices. If everything works out well, you could even secure a job here after you graduate. This is a place where you can really belong, a place where you can feel at home. So, what are you waiting for?

Entry requirements

If you’re in your penultimate year at university, or if you’re already in your final year but will be doing a one-year Master’s degree, or taking a gap year, this internship is for you. We operate an open access policy, meaning we don’t screen out applications on your academic performance alone. You will, however, need to be working towards an Honours degree in any subject – some programmes will require a subject relevant to the business area – have a minimum of grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths, and three A-levels/ Five Highers (or equivalent) to be eligible to apply.

“When it comes to getting promoted, it doesn’t matter where you’ve come from – it’s all about where you are now, and the potential that you show.” Gemma Noble, from summer internship to Assurance Partner, Aberdeen

Project You. It’s yours to build.

Please note, we’re phasing our opening of Student opportunities for 2021, so some specific roles listed above may not open until September. We recommend you check our website regularly for updates.
