Tax Placement

What is Tax at EY?

What will you be doing?

  • Learning about tax reporting, compliance and planning alongside senior colleagues
  • Building important relationships with clients
  • Developing a broad range of skills that you’ll need to build a successful career

Are you eligible to apply?

You’ll need a minimum of Level 2/GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language & Maths, and three A-levels, 5 Highers or equivalent. You'll also be studying for an honours degree (in any subject) that includes a one-year placement and you’re in your penultimate year of university.

Business skills training

You'll have access to a broad suite of learning resources to develop your consulting and technical skills including our EY Badges programme which offers structured learning leading to accreditation in a range of of subject domains including programming, data visualisation and blockchain.

How’s it structured?

Developing your understanding of local and international tax laws is at the heart of this programme. After an EY induction you’ll join your team in Financial Service (FS) Direct Tax. Throughout the year, you’ll take up a variety of client work including technical research into areas of tax legislation, commercial research into new clients, attending and taking notes of client meetings and calls, as well as report writing and meetings.

There’ll be lots of development opportunities, informal technical training sessions to discuss new legislation with your team and you’ll have a counsellor who’ll keep in touch about your career development too. Do a great job and you may be offered a place on the team once you’ve finished uni.
