Treasury Placement

Purpose of the role

An opportunity for a highly numerical undergraduate to build technical and interpersonal skills and take on real responsibilities in a FTSE 250 Bank by supporting cash management operations.

Treasury operates at the heart of a business and involves the management of money and financial risks. Its priority is to ensure the business has the money it needs to manage its day-to-day business obligations, while also helping develop its long-term financial strategy and policies. This role will provide invaluable experience to start a career in financial services.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Responsibility for the daily cash position of all group companies
  • Preparation of treasury payments, obtaining authorisations, and tracking payment/receipt
  • Key point of contact within Treasury, liaising with other departments when queries arise
  • Analysis of cash positions, historic rates/yield curves, payments etc.
  • Support Treasury Dealer by providing cover to execute MM deposits, Interest Rate Swaps and FX swaps
  • Execute Bank of England Sterling Monetary Framework operations
  • Monitor counterparty exposures against internal and regulatory limits
  • Assist in setting up new counterparties and associated KYC requirements
  • Management of collateral posting, ensuring valuations are correct and any receipts/payments are invested/processed when advised
  • Review counterparty ratings on a regular basis
  • Updating and maintaining cash management procedures
  • Updating and maintaining Bloomberg. Maintaining new public pages as and when required and maintain live excel data spreadsheets as necessary by business
  • Ad hoc development of reports and maintenance
  • Responsibility for the input/verification of deals in the Treasury Management System (Quantum)
  • Provide Ad hoc support on projects

Skills

  • Team player but capable of working on their own
  • Interest in financial services
  • Highly analytical and structured
  • Solid verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to perform well in a pressurised environment and to strict deadlines
  • A high level of accuracy in all matters is essential, as decisions are made on the basis of information supplied
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Qualifications and experience

Currently undertaking undergraduate studies in mathematics, accountancy, finance or similar. Grade C or above A-level in Mathematics is essential.

Working hours

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm (one hour for lunch).

Training

Relevant training will be provided.
