Commercial Analyst Placement

Purpose of Job

  • Provide financial, economic and business analysis to input into Pay.UK’s commercial strategy to support how existing and new products and services might be designed, priced, marketed and funded.
  • Work with the Head of Commercial and the rest of the team to explore ways of combining financial and economic analyses and market research to help develop future services to take to market.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • Provide analysis and key insights from research and present to internal and external stakeholders, making recommendations for change / innovation.
  • Conduct data analysis to input into the development of alternative commercial, funding and treasury options for business-as-usual activities and new initiatives.
  • Actively review industry research for insight into: Financing Models, Market Dynamics, Effective Infrastructure, changes in Banking Markets etc, to identify key insights and trends.
  • Prepare reports summarising the funding and commercial options that could form the basis of engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present marketing research results and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Run “what-if” scenarios using consumer and business models on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Perform ad-hoc data analysis when required.

Job-specific Competencies

  • Analytical with commercial modelling / analytics experience.
  • Studying a relevant subject at degree level – Business, Banking, Finance and / or Economics preferred). Other degree disciplines will be considered if the candidate has commercial / funding experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, including strong written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Knowledge of a computer programming language or statistical software package would be advantageous (e.g. SPSS, SAS, R).

Other Obligations

  • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed and that staff receives appropriate training, that a local risk register is developed and regularly monitored and reviewed.
  • Complies and / or ensures compliance with Pay.UK Data Protection policy, processes and all relevant legislation. This includes maintaining team specific retention schedules, records of data processing and ensuring that any data protection risks are identified, communicated and mitigating actions put in place.

Scope

  • The role will be a 12 month fixed term contract starting in August 2020 and has a salary between £19,000 and £22,000.
  • Member of the Standards & Strategy team, reporting directly to the Head of Commercial
  • London based but may be required to travel on occasion within UK.
