Industrial Placement - IT

Placement Area: IT:

Within the IT department, your focus can vary from detecting and helping in the resolution of IT related concerns, determining and analysing data trends and supporting the integration of digital marketing platforms globally and other operational aspects of the organisation’s systems.

We have 5 ICT Roles available;

IT Adoption and Productivity

To deliver systems to support all areas of IT and wider user community. You will work with various functions across Europe and gain experience of collaboration tools and their use within IT strategy. The role will require use of web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery and other out-of-the-box development technologies.

Customer Relationship Management

The CRM team in-sources disparate CRM services provided by external companies and replace them with an industry leading enterprise solution - Siebel. You will be gathering business user requirements, identifying process improvement, providing IT support to business critical projects, maintaining business applications such as SharePoint, test and manage schedules. There is also the opportunity to manage small projects within specialist areas.

Contact Centre

The Contact Centres receive contacts through various channels - phone, email etc... to support customers and dealers as well as providing technical assistance support. The contact centre IT team are responsible for the deployment and sustaining of contact centre applications including CRM & Knowledge Management systems. You will be required to provide day-to-day support to the European Contact Centres and participate in Contact Centre initiatives by working closely with the Telecoms team who are responsible for telephony hardware, network infrastructure and telephony software.

Owner services - Mobile and Web

'MyVauxhall' and 'MyOpel' applications for iOS, Android and Web provide customers with access to information and services during vehicle ownership. This role requires you to sustain the operation, release to wider markets and release/develop industry leading feature updates to these platforms across Europe. You will have the opportunity to gain an understanding of the wider mobile app / web strategy by supporting and managing innovative solutions.

Digital Marketing

Supporting the digital marketing business, with a focus on Opel/Vauxhall brands. You will need to work with European digital business owners to understand current processes and prioritise change requirements. Take ideas from initial stages all the way through to delivering successful projects by building business cases and presenting findings to key stakeholders. Producing requirements for digital marketing, particularly for brand websites and vehicle configuratiors. Create user stories and supporting acceptance criteria to manage the story life cycle. Create wireframes to support business requirements. Work with the product team for the product backlog. Attend sessions with the Development and Quality Assurance teams. Partake in sprint planning and demos. Support testing and development. Sprint User Acceptance Testing and release regression testing. Defect Management - monitor inbound and defect. Use automated tools to track, report and monitor brand performance. Build prototypes based on typical software stack - HTML, CSS, Javascript, CMS with some knowledge of required architecture such as Webserver, Appserver, Java Runtime environment.

Who we look for

We look for candidates who take pride in everything they do, and embrace our values of being motivated, agile and efficient! Candidates must:

  • Be working towards a 2:1 degree in any discipline however preferred areas are; Business Computing and IT, Business Information Systems, Business Management and Information Systems, IT Management for Business, ICT.
  • Commercial work experience is desirable but not essential
  • Must have the right to work in the UK
