Junior Analyst Placement

Successful applicants will join the 4C Centre of Excellence team that supports our consulting teams working with our blue-chip clients throughout the UK and abroad. Key skills include the ability to effectively carry out research, analyse and solve complex analytical problems, work closely with others, lead and persuade others and implement effective solutions.

Main Objectives

Placement students will join as Junior Analysts in the 4C Centre of Excellence (CoE) team; a multi-client facing team based primarily in 4C’s London offices, but with regular visits to client offices. The CoE team provides analytical and consulting support, developing standard processes & procedures and providing more effective ways of working.

When in a client facing role, you will play a crucial role in the team and support the proactive identification of opportunities for cost reduction and performance improvement. You will work alongside experienced consultants gaining a unique insight into procurement processes and transformation projects – as well as our approach to consulting across diverse market sectors.

You will receive a customised training induction to maximise your learning and suitability for rapid introduction to 4C client account work. If you do well on your placement there may be the offer of a full-time role for you to take up upon completion of your degree.

Key Tasks

Within the Centre of Excellence team, you will typically undertake tasks such as: data, spend & category analysis, building models & dashboards, conducting research and supporting eSourcing, tenders & negotiations.

In addition, client projects will range from initial prospecting & bidding support, to any sort of live project activities required to ensure the successful client delivery; adaptability, resilience and problem solving are key attributes!

You will be expected to develop your skills throughout the year, including taking advantage of the induction training provided. Delivered through video resource and regular face to face sessions, the training focuses on increasing your commercial knowledge, building your consulting skillset and familiarizing yourself with the technology that is becoming a standard in the modern world.

Areas of responsibility

Your assigned project may require you to carry out any of the following activities,

  • Performing cost analysis and savings modelling
  • Researching, structuring and solving complex analytical problems, often using both standard software packages and bespoke tools developed by 4C
  • Preparing and supporting Requests for Information/Requests for Proposals
  • Preparing presentation materials (e.g. slides, reports) for stakeholder communication and meetings
  • Conducting market research, contract compliance reviews and ad-hoc problem solving where appropriate
  • Liaising with stakeholders to obtain and interpret information
  • Working with client staff and executives to develop and implement improved processes and methods
  • Supporting other 4C team members and teams in sharing best practice and technical/market knowledge

  • Communication skills: The ability to articulate results and ideas in a concise manner using a variety of media and formats, be persuasive and convincing in front of a challenging audience
  • Capacity to deliver outstanding work to tight deadlines and manage a diverse workload
  • Able to motivate themselves and others using a collaborative approach
  • Enthusiastic to work with others in a team and to learn and develop
  • Proficiency in Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
