Industrial Design Placement

Zebra's Industrial Design team are amongst the worlds leading designers with a wealth of knowledge spanning many successful award-winning products. We sit amongst a diverse global team made up of Researchers, Human Factors engineers and UX/UI designers providing solutions that are suitable for harsh environments yet beautifully crafted.

As an Industrial Design intern, you will be responsible for supporting the design team on a day to day basis whilst working on a conceptual project relevant to our market space. You would be expected to follow the design process from sketching through to CAD and development of communication skills. Throughout the year it would be expected that you would gain insight and knowledge within the areas of design for manufacture, tooling, texturing, and conceptual design development. You will be working closely with design, research, and engineering team members; advising and collaborating to create industry leading solutions to problems that real users face every day.

Responsibilities;

• Collaboration with Industrial Designers to produce elegant and innovative concepts / solutions to strategic and tactical projects
• Sketch and create CAD for visualisation and prototyping
• Be accountable for Project deadlines and deliverables
• Interact with teams across the whole of Zebra to spread the message of good Industrial Design
• Take part in team brainstorms to discover new and innovative product ideas / solutions

Qualifications for both roles

• Current University student studying for an Undergraduate Degree
• Interest in Industrial Design and the design process
• Self-starter who enjoys working in a team to accomplish goals
• Demonstrates a willingness and aptitude for learning
• Good attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with an ability to work collaboratively with others
• Have a good understanding of 3D CAD Modeling, Preferably within Autodesk ALIAS and PTC ProEngineer but not essential
• Have a good base level of use for the Adobe creative suite
