European Logistics Placement

Are you looking for a Logistics placement in the UK? Are you enthusiastic, numerate, IT proficient and a team player? If your answer is 'YES' we may have just the opportunity for you!

We have an exciting opportunity for a paid internship within our European Logistics team, where you will be able to gain valuable work experience in a global FMCG company. You will be part of a growing team with a wide remit across end to end supply chain, from management of inbound materials to outbound supply and customer fulfilment.

Who Are We?

You may be more familiar with our products than with our company name. Batiste dry shampoo, Arm & Hammer baking soda toothpaste, Femfresh Intimate wash, Sterimar natural sea water nasal spray and Nair hair removal products all of which form part of our exciting brands. We are continuing to grow our portfolio each year with new exciting acquisitions, our newest being Waterpik and Flawless.

Church & Dwight UK Ltd are based in Folkestone, Kent, where we develop, produce & distribute many of our products and work with Sofibel in Paris and Church & Dwight GmbH in Frankfurt, Germany to form the European team. We are part of Church & Dwight Co. Inc. based in New Jersey, USA.

In the UK we employ over 300 people who undertake a range of roles from Research & Development & Marketing through to Purchasing, Production and Supply Chain. These teams are supported by departments such as Finance & Human Resources.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an intern to join our European Logistics team, based in Folkestone, Kent on a 12 month contract commencing in Summer 2020. This is a great location on the Kent coast, with easy access to both London and the Channel Tunnel; we even have sea views from our logistics main office!

The role will combine a range of exciting projects, for example:

  • Helping to drive logistics efficiency using our SAP platform
  • Stock control and inventory management from raw materials through to finished products held in the UK and in our European locations
  • Preparation and implementation of Brexit mitigation plans
  • Implementation and measurement of Lean within both warehouse and desk based roles
  • Digital automation of routine transactions in both warehouse and desk based roles, reducing touch points and improving customer experience
  • Expanding our D2C provision
  • Integration of newly acquired brands into our own logistics network in Europe

In this role you will work with multiple functions across the organization and also liaise with external stakeholders such at third party logistics providers and fulfilment houses. You will have the opportunity to spend blocks of the internship year with different part of the Logistics function, so gain a deeper knowledge of each specific area – UK logistics, European logistics, customer fulfilment and direct to consumer. You will become proficient in SAP logistics transactions and have the opportunity to visit third party sites for inventory counts and project meetings.

Our ideal candidate will be articulate and commercially aware, have an enquiring mind and be able to work on their own initiative. You must also be numerate and have experience interpreting data and spreadsheets. As you will be liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, we also expect that you will be a great ambassador for our team at all times.

Who we are looking for

We welcome applications from current students looking to undertake an industry placement year and also graduates seeking their first Logistic stock control opportunity.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be an undergraduate/postgraduate ideally in Business Studies or a related subject – and really enjoy their subject!
  • Be able to work as part of teams located in different sites or even countries
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Be able to demonstrate a “can do” attitude and desire to continuously improve.
  • Have an enquiring mind and confident disposition
  • Have excellent numeracy and IT skills
  • Be prepared to get stuck in and learn in the role

If you would like to apply for this opportunity and have a valid European passport or a student visa that allows you to undertake an internship opportunity, please visit our careers website and apply directly for the role.

We are looking forwards to hearing from you.
