Joining BDO’s Shared Service Centre (SSC) now means being part of an exciting period of growth and change in one of our key business units. If you’re currently an undergraduate looking for a placement year where you’ll be doing real work at the centre of a leading financial services company, this could be for you.

Every day, you’ll work with managers who will help you build the skills you need to solve the complex challenges we’re presented with. Alongside extensive training, you’ll have the opportunity to build out your CV working on innovative services that are essential for accounting and finance for leading national and international clients. You can apply to your primary hub where you’ll be trained in-house and you’ll then spend time in another hub to broaden your experience and give you the foundations for a successful career in accounting, finance and beyond. This opportunity is for a University Placement year on a 13 month Fixed Term Contract commencing 1st June 2020. The teams currently offering placement are:

  • Accounts: Support regional client facing audit teams by preparing statutory accounts from trial balance under FRS 102, FRS 102 section 1a and FRS 101 while working extensively with Caseware accounting software and other workflow tools.
  • Audit: Support client facing audit teams with multiple aspects of the audit process including audit set up, report generation, derivative valuation and casting.
  • Tax: Complete non-complex personal and corporate tax returns for client facing teams and work extensively with BDO’s tax software and workflow tools.
  • Business administration Support: Support across three key elements: Bank Letters Coordination, Travel Booking and Ad-hoc work requests.
  • Business Process Outsourcing: Help manage client’s day-to-day bookkeeping and transactional processes.
  • Business Support: Support across essential Project delivery, Finance, KPI support and Recruitment requests.
  • Cashiers: Process and reconcile of Business Restructuring Insolvency cases.
  • Conflicts: Carry out conflicts of interest checks at both national and international levels.
  • Data Analytics: Support our Audit clients using BDO’s data analytics tool (BDO Advantage).
  • Know your Client: Conduct research, due diligence and identity checks on individuals and entities, ensuring regulatory compliance is adhered to.
  • IT Service Desk: Provide first line IT support, solving queries logged and escalation for second line referrals for more complex requests.
  • Learning and Development: Deliver mandatory training for the TSG Audit Stream.
