Test Engineer (Software) Placements

Mentor, a Siemens Business has been offering engineering student placements for many years and have a great track record of giving students an excellent grounding in our technologies.

The engineering work you will get involved in will see you working with our products to analyse or build models of equipment and systems then, using the principles of fluid flow, heat transfer and CFD, you will use these models to verify and validate that the software is producing correct results. You will work with experienced software developers who will fix any deficiencies that you find in the software, and based on your suggested improvements, we will aim to make the software easier to use while eliminating user errors.

Depending on the product line, you may also get involved in helping to create product training and marketing material, run software tests including performance tests, as well as the opportunity to develop your coding and debugging skills. You will be given training in the use of our products under development, and will learn how to apply CFD to solve real engineering issues. Through team work, you will learn about the Agile management methodologies that are employed in the development of our products and will gain a good understanding of a wide range of skills associated with software engineering.
