Change and Performance Placement

Start date: 6th July 2020

To stay on top, Airbus recognises the importance of supporting high-achieving and talented undergraduates. We do this through offering challenging internship opportunities during which your skills and potential are fully maximised.

Our internships give a unique insight into potential career paths within Airbus. They are designed so that you can put your theoretical knowledge into practice and gain crucial industry experience. The skills and knowledge you gain will improve your chances of a future role within the Airbus and should benefit your future studies.

Do you want to make a real difference during a year in industry? To be involved in engineering, project and performance management, implementing strategic and operational change that brings significant value to the business? Would you like to develop your leadership skills through facilitation and coaching of individuals and teams? The Change and Performance team combines expertise in operational business performance management, lean methodologies and change management to find opportunities and support the delivery of continuous improvement through the wing engineering organisation. We are responsible for ensuring wing engineering maintains its position as the benchmark within Airbus.

Utilising data analysis and close links to operational teams allows the team to actively identify programme pain-points. Our diverse skillset then allows us to mitigate risks and support teams in finding novel solutions to these complex challenges.

You will spend time working closely with teams in order to fully understand the challenges they face - acting as a focal point for improvement opportunities and promoting new and established improvement methods. Activities you lead and support will directly contribute to the success of the organisation.

Knowledge and experience of project and performance management, continuous improvement techniques and the ability to facilitate and coach individuals and teams, is recognised by Airbus as a key skill for future leaders. You will have the opportunity to rapidly develop your knowledge in these areas through facilitating and participating in projects, workshops and training sessions. You will gain hands on experience in supporting the existing business strategy on topics such as empowerment of teams, anticipation of issues, and agility in our ways of working.

Tasks:

During this internship, the activities you may undertake will include;

  • work closely alongside engineering teams
  • launch and support targeted improvement activities
  • identify and share best practice
  • facilitate the effective use of lean methodologies
  • directly impact the Airbus wing engineering organization

Skills:

Please note, we love your interest in working for Airbus but we do ask that you make only one application. We encourage you to take time to decide which of our exciting opportunities is right for you and then submit an application that best represents you, your skills and experience in connection with the role you have selected.

One application: Make It Possible, Make It Happen, Make It … Count!

Our Internships are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following;

  • You find creative solutions to complex problems
  • You take the initiative and get things moving
  • You constantly seek improvement in what you do
  • You are comfortable at communicating with diverse groups of people – from designers to analysts to senior managers.
  • You are interested in project management and the less technical aspects of work in an engineering organization
  • Ideally you are studying a technical engineering or business management degree where modules have looked at project management and lean principles.

Please ensure that a covering letter detailing motivations and suitability for this position is included in your application.
