Public Relations and Communications Support Placement - Reading

Introduction to the PR and Comms team:

One of the most important aspects of this is to have a reputation of a cloud leader, defining the future of enterprise computing. That is the central objective of the PR and comms team in EMEA.
The team is a distributed community of around 15 PR and social media leaders across the territory, led by a small regional leadership team in the UK.

The leadership team provides central content, management information and reporting. The team needs to have real time data driven insights into:

  • How well Oracle reputation is changing
  • The impact of customer voice in our comms
  • The most effective tools, assets and channels to use
  • What competitors are saying and how
  • What customer consider the most important issues, so we can develop content that speaks to their pain points

Responsibilities:

Social and Media Analytics

The central role of an intern in this team will be to be the eyes and ears on the market providing insight and data on these types of topics, presenting this is compelling and relevant ways.
This will require use of tools including Brandwatch and Traackr and other media and analytics platforms and providing support to local teams on these tools.

Campaign Planning

As the individual develops they will expected to bring advice and recommendations for programs and campaigns and support the execution of these.
You’ll be fluent in English and want to help drive reputational change through great communication, using all the modern tools and techniques and bringing fresh and new ideas for a company undergoing a fundamental brand shift.

Social Media Management

The role will involve working with the UK PR team in managing their social media programme. This will include community management of social handles, as well as working with the team to implement proactive social awareness and engagement campaigns.

Training will be provided in best practice communication planning, modern writing styles, tone of voice, branding, tools and platforms to enhance existing knowledge.

What we look for:

Individuals studying for a University degree in Digital marketing, Marketing, Journalism or Media and Communications (or similar).

Specifically,

  • Energetic, articulate and motivated students on course for a 2:1 degree or higher with the right attitude and aptitude to succeed in a fast-paced business
  • Strong writing and editing skills with superb attention to detail
  • High energy, confident, outgoing and proactive
  • Strong analytic and numerical reasoning skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to interpret and understand data and present it in creative and compelling ways
  • Good IT skills including basic knowledge of HTML, Photoshop and Video editing software
  • Some experience of writing/blogging is desirable and some international experience would be an advantage
