Scientist - Large Molecule Bioanalysis Placement

This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside our industry leading scientists in our GLP/GCP accredited laboratories. You will gain a wide range of practical laboratory skills which are supported by our in-house training. There is also the potential for employment after graduation!

In Large Molecule Bioanalysis we support the drug development of large molecule therapeutics for our clients. The analytical techniques used are typically based around immunoassays which exploit the specific interactions of antibodies.

Job purpose:

The main focus of the team is development and validation of qualitative/quantitative assays and subsequent sample analysis to determine concentrations of drugs, antibodies or biomarkers in biological samples. This work is completed within a regulatory framework to deliver high quality analytical data to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

You will use a diverse range of scientific techniques including:-

  • Enzyme immunoassay, Gyrolab , Singulex Erenna , AlphaLISA and DELFIA
  • Multiplexing technology including Mesoscale Discovery (MSD) and Luminex
  • PK analysis of therapeutic biologics
  • Immunogenicity testing of biologics
  • Biomarker quantification
  • Flow cytometry
  • Cell-based assays
  • Characterisation and labelling of antibody reagents
  • Automation of assays and integration into LIMS
  • Enzyme activity assays

Person specification:

  • Studying towards a Degree in Biological Science or related subject
  • Familiarity with analytical method development/validation advantageous
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and as part of a team
  • Conscientious and meticulous in laboratory work
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Highly motivated
  • Willing to get involved with new ideas and initiatives
